At The Sir Donald Bailey Academy, we are passionate about the power of reading for pleasure. To support this we are using Renaissance Accelerated Reader to assess, motivate and measure the reading progress of our pupils.
The system combines assessment and reading motivation to raise reading standards at pupil, class and whole school level. Bringing together carefully levelled children’s books with a computer-adaptive test to measure a child’s reading level. This reading management programme includes thousands of quizzes to monitor and assess independent reading.
Our intention is to develop confident successful readers with engaging levelled books. Combined, our school library and reading corners include levelled books across a range of genres, with new and popular titles for ages 5 and upwards.
